Whitney on Main Apartments
Watertown, Massachusetts
Bowdoin was hired as construction manager for extensive
building upgrades to this seven building, 282 unit apartment complex in
Watertown, MA. The project involved structural repairs to an underground
garage, replacing the surfaces of parking areas and adding new lighting;
repairing all of the buildings’ balconies including waterproofing and
bringing the railings up to code; upgrading life safety systems including
fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, emergency lighting, and sprinkler
systems including a new generator for the fire pump; replacing all tenant
entry doors and over 200 windows; bringing the elevators up to code and
converting the former pool area into a fitness center. The project
entailed careful phasing to minimize disruption to the tenants in this 95%
occupied complex.
