Bowdoin Construction served as
construction manager for the fast-track adaptive reuse of a former
supermarket into a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center for
orthopedics and endoscopic procedures. Bowdoin was brought on board at the
inception of design to work in collaboration with Southern New England
Surgery Center, LLC and Hardaway Associates Architects to provide design
development budgets and perform investigative work in the existing
building. The project was fast tracked in order to allow for early trade
work to commence while construction documents were still in design. The
25,000 s.f. facility required selective demolition, extensive slab cutting
and underground plumbing, cutting in of new windows around the building
perimeter, a new entrance canopy, a new roof, all new MEP and fire
protection systems, and medical gas piping. The newly completed facility
features eight operating rooms, two procedure rooms, nurse's stations,
pre-op and post-op areas, reception/lobby area, doctor's offices and a
kitchen/lunch room. |
