Lexington Christian Academy selected
Bowdoin Construction to expand their 35-year-old existing facility on a
tight operating campus bordered by wetlands. The new 25,000 square foot
two-story addition, designed by Flansburgh Associates, includes a library,
dining hall, science lab, computer lab, classrooms, student commons and
administrative offices. The new space features bay windows with large
copper-clad overhangs over the windows and doors to provide protection
from the elements. In addition, clerestory windows and light wells
maximize natural light and ventilation to the classrooms predominantly
located on the perimeter walls. The signature feature of this facility is
the library rotunda which was designed to resemble a lantern in keeping
with Lexington Christian Academy’s mission “Illuminating Lives.” |
