Bowdoin was selected for the construction of this 82,000 s.f.
state-of-the-art science center, named in honor of the founder of Digital
Equipment Corporation, on the campus of Gordon College. The new facility,
designed by Payette Associates, was constructed of structural steel, a
brick and precast concrete facade, and synthetic slate and standing seam
metal panel roof. The facility features numerous wet and dry labs,
classrooms, faculty offices, a 400-seat auditorium, a case study/lecture
hall and a main lobby with museum quality displays. The entire building
was fitted with the latest technology and equipment for instruction and
research in the various science disciplines.
